From October 2004 the Act requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments under Section 21 of the Act, to overcome any physical features of their premises, which form a physical barrier to access. Therefore, service providers should consider the implications of the act before 2004 and arrange for an access audit to be undertaken.
The definition of a service provider is a company/person who provides services, goods or facilities to the general public or a section of it, with or without payment, this includes all types of shops, public buildings such as libraries, town halls, swimming pools and office based professional services such as Chartered Surveyors and Solicitors.
We are able to undertake an audit and this audit would take the form of a written survey specific to the type of building and could then form a basis for a Schedule of Works, which can be undertaken in order to ensure that the building complies with the requirements of the Act.
