From October 2004 this Act requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments under Section 21 of the Act, to overcome any structural features of their premises, which form a physical barrier to access. Service providers should therefore consider the implications of the Act and arrange for an access audit to be undertaken.
The definition of a service provider is a company or person which/who provides services, goods or facilities to the general public or a section of it, with or without payment. This includes all types of shops, public buildings such as libraries, town halls, swimming pools and office-based professional services such as Chartered Surveyors and Solicitors.
We are able to undertake such an audit, which would take the form of a written survey specific to the type of building and could then form the basis for a Schedule of Works, which can be undertaken in order to ensure that the building complies with the requirements of the Act.
